Bay Area SAT Help

Tuesday, January 24th, 2006

Just wanted to drop a quick note here for people looking (or know someone) who is looking for college preparation or SAT tutoring in the Bay Area (that is in California if you did not know). Danielle Bianchi is a Duke University graduate with over 5 years experience helping prospective college students to improve their high school scores, SAT and ACT scores and create quality college admission essays. She is a great person and someone who seems to care a great deal about each student’s interests as well as their future education. So, if you know of someone looking for an SAT tutor in San Francisco or the surrounding area, you should contact Danielle.

Massachusetts Freshmen Report on College Preparedness

Monday, January 9th, 2006

Seems like it is more and more about who to blame these days. Another example is this article in the Sentinel and Enterprise reporting on the views of some local Massachusetts college freshmen about their first semester in college.  Seems that many of the students, quoted in the article, feel that high school teachers did not prepare them adequately for the challenges that were waiting for them in college. I should say that this sentiment was expressed by the students who attended the more difficult schools to gain acceptance to, like Amherst.  Seems that more and more pressures are placed on the elementary and secondary school systems in this country.  From an outsider’s perspective, it seems that students and parents should bear the burden of responsibility. After all, who ever said there was a free lunch?
